MAITREYEE DUTTA

Maitreyee Dutta is a Counselling Psychologist and Certified Career Counsellor who has spent more than a decade in one room or another with young people who were trying to figure out who they wanted to become. She began as a teacher of English, working across various educational institutions for over ten years. In that time she did far more than teach a syllabus. She mentored students through board exam pressure, sat with parents who were worried about a child's sudden drop in marks, and watched — again and again — how a young person's confidence quietly shapes the choices they make about their future. That decade in classrooms is why her counselling never feels clinical or distant. She already understands the school calendar, the pressure of Class 10 and Class 12, and the anxiety a parent carries home from a results day. She went on to formalise that understanding, completing an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from IGNOU, a Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance & Counselling, and certification as a Career Counsellor and Life Coach. She holds a B.Ed. in English from the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, and a B.A. in English from IGNOU. Her clinical practice began with a six-month internship under Dr. Atreyi Dutta, assisting with psychological assessments, intake interviews and case discussions. She then joined Amitabh Psychology as a Counsellor, where she managed 23 counselling cases with clients aged 13 to 45 — including 10 family and relationship interventions involving communication breakdowns and marital conflict. She has supported clients through anxiety, stress, panic attacks, low self-esteem and difficult periods of adjustment, and completed the 360 Degree Counselling Program at Amitabh Psychology. Her research work a comparative study on marital adjustment, depression and loneliness among working and non-working women reflects an interest that runs through all her practice: how the environment around a person quietly shapes what they believe is possible for them. At Future Elevators, Maitreyee combines scientific psychometric assessment with genuine listening. She works with students on stream selection, career discovery and study planning, and with parents on understanding their child's actual aptitude rather than the family's assumptions about it. She counsels in English, Bengali and Hindi.
